The Emmy-nominated Documentary Now! just got more star-studded. The 51st season — which premieres September 14th at 10P on IFC — will feature an Oscar-friendly crew who will drop by for a special two-part episode.
“Mr. Runner-up: My Life as an Oscar Bridesmaid, Part 1 and Part 2” is a glitzy tribute to the 2002 Robert Evans biopic The Kid Stays in the Picture. Doc Now! stars and co-creators Fred Armisen and Bill Hader welcome Anne Hathaway, Mia Farrow, Peter Bogdanovich and Peter Fonda to honor the roller coaster career of a Hollywood bigwig.
The famous foursome joins other confirmed guest star Maya Rudolph, who will appear in “Final Transmission,” a music-centric take on the classic Talking Heads documentary Stop Making Sense. Fans recently attended the live concert put on by Fred, Bill and Maya, and buzz is we’re all in for some fantastic songs penned by Armisen himself.
Stay tuned to IFC.com for updates and sneak peeks at the upcoming season of Documentary Now!.
